The LEDAS Company announces its new specialization aimed at development of mobile applications. We believe that the niche of highly demanded smart and simple solutions mostly presented by Java games for mobile phones has by now, as a result of soft- and hardware technological developments, become a fertile ground for more serious staff.

Our approach is based on the combination of the earlier developed advanced LEDAS technologies for automation, planning and optimization. In particular, we are going to widely apply the results of the LEDAS projects on scheduling (http://ledas.com/scheduler.php) and geometric constraint solving (lgs.ledas.com). To satisfy particular requirements of mobile applications, special developments of those results are currently being performed.

Our approach is pragmatically oriented to the market success: it involves design and release of a product line, which includes both very simple products and more sophisticated intelligent tools.

Our approach assumes building applications with fundamentally mobile features for phones, PDAs, and notebooks. We believe that the architecture and other key solutions will guarantee portability and scalability to provide efficient expansion by the dimensions of both customer oriented features and hardware base.

To begin with, the LEDAS Company is planning to release a number of thematically close products with target subscribers among private consumers and small size companies.

The first products have been already built by now; some others are under intensive development. Initial publication of a web page http://ledas.com/mobile.php (and later -- a special web site) presenting the LEDAS mobile solutions and products is soon to appear.

The LEDAS Company announces its new project, for the moment called the LEDAS Geometric Graphics (LGG), aimed at application of the LEDAS geometric constraint solving technology beyond the CAD/CAM/CAE/PLM scope

The LEDAS Company announces its new project, for the moment called the LEDAS Geometric Graphics (LGG), aimed at application of the LEDAS geometric constraint solving technology beyond the CAD/CAM/CAE/PLM scope. In the framework of common two-dimensional vector graphics (which includes shapes, texts, and embedded raster graphics) old-fashioned methods like aligning, adjusting, etc., are still used. At the same time, much more powerful methods based on geometric constraints have been approved in CAD domain to work with sketches and assemblies.

The challenge to apply geometric constraint-based approach to the vector graphics domain is very high motivating. LEDAS has started this project, having in hands the underlying technology for geometric constraint solving and the dedicated industrial product, the LEDAS Geometric Solver (LGS, http://lgs.ledas.com/), licensed by several CAD makers. We are going to bring this technology to users of traditional systems of vector graphics. The LGG project should provide efficient means of dealing with geometric notions and constraints to support easy creation and modification of graphical entities and to express their relationships.

The efforts in this direction primarily aim at creation of a new concept of graphical user interface that allows the user of such applications like CorelDraw to deal with constraints over graphical entities, including their creation and modification (both implicitly and explicitly). A prototype will be built to evaluate this new concept in combination with the underlying technology of efficient geometric constraint solving and a number of various end user paradigms. Some other R&D results and experiences of LEDAS, like the Physical Simulation project http://ledas.com/ps.php, will also be involved into the LGG development. We are going to present the LGG results at the Graphicon-2005 conference (http://graphicon.ru/2005) that will take place in Novosibirsk, Russia, in June 2005.

The LEDAS Company advances its technologies for resource scheduling. We have recently received a lot of signals that indicate growing market demand for powerful scheduling technologies. Our new R&D direction aims at extending the area of application of the LEDAS scheduling technology beyond the PLM scope. In partnership with Xored www.xored.com, Sib3 http://sib3.ru, and some other companies, we plan to create an end-user office tool similar to Microsoft Office Project.

Based on our existing scheduling technology (http://www.ledas.com/scheduler.php) enriched with the new efficient algorithms specific for typical large-scale project schedules, this tool will propose to users the advanced optimization facilities.

Within the same direction of our R&D, another office application a so-called meeting maker will be built. Exploiting the same LEDAS scheduling technology complemented by the client-server architecture, this application will allow users to automatically plan their meetings using almost any kind of interfaces from a client side including mobile devices like PDA and cellular phones, notebooks and personal computers, and also any other device via special web-based user interface. The server part will be available for rent (using our own hardware) and purchase (to be installed on the customer hardware).

These applications, new for our traditional PLM-oriented technology, will also enable us to propose new advanced means to support efficient scheduling procedures for the PLM domain.

The LEDAS Company invites all interested companies for partnership in its geometrical constraint-based solver development. A release of the first beta-version of LGS 3D solver is expected in November-December 2004

The LEDAS Company is intensively working at preparing a release of its geometrical constraint-based solver LGS 3D. The project objective is to build an effective and affordable key component for assembly and 3D drawing applications. By today, a complete basic functionality has been implemented, and currently the team pays much attention to accelerate the solver and improve intelligence of its behavior.

A release of the first LGS 3D beta-version is expected in November-December 2004, also within an early access program EAP LGS 3D. The first release is scheduled for the Q2 2005.

Successful development of the LGS 3D project and its industrialization at early stages is substantially supported by collaboration with a number of industrial companies. The companies have clearly demonstrated their serious practical interest to apply the LGS Solver and support its development providing industrial testing platforms and sets of industrial tests.

The LEDAS Company is inviting all interested companies for partnership aimed at rapid developing of the effective and affordable 3D geometric solver. Within such a partnership, you can influence on the solver functionality and time of its releases, you can get your ready-to-use solution simultaneously with the 3D LGS release, and you can also buy a license for 3D LGS under special conditions immediately after its official release.

The early access program for the 2D LGS solution (initiated in April 2003) has attracted about 100 worldwide participants, it has substantially facilitated the first release of LGS 2D, and afterwards it enabled establishing of useful partnership relations. We hope that a number of EAP 3D LGS participants will be even higher and their geography - broader.

LEDAS Ltd. announced today the release of LGS (LEDAS Geometric Solver) Version 1.1

LEDAS Ltd. announced today the release of LGS (LEDAS Geometric Solver) Version 1.1, its two-dimensional computation engine that supports creation and modification of designs using geometric and engineering constraints in CAD/CAM/CAE/PLM solutions. This new, state-of-the-art engine can be used by application developers who need strong variational and constraint-based functionality in CAD, modeling, or engineering software.

New release features two major improvements to the LGS 1.0 released in January 2004:

  • Move under constraints functionality,
  • Over-defined parts diagnostics.

In June 2004 in Novosibirsk, Russia, in the framework of the isiCAD-2004 International Workshop, LEDAS will present the 2D LGS solution before an audience including representatives of international and Russian CAD development companies. Read full press-release.

Ledas, Ltd. and ProPro Group have announced a joint project for development of a small parametric CAD system

Ledas, Ltd. and ProPro Group have announced a joint project for development of a small parametric CAD system. Based on bCAD, a small CAD system by ProPro, this new system will use the LGS parametric solver to support constraints. The intent is to provide the users of small CAD systems and 3D modeling software with all the capabilities of parametric design, such as convenient facilities for building precise drawings, simple tools for modification through changing parameters, and much more. In the first phase, a prototype will be built, including integration of bCAD with LGS 2D, adaptation of user-oriented functions and user interface. It is expected that the solution will be presented in June 2004 to the isiCAD International Forum organized by Ledas, and a working prototype will be displayed at the exhibition to be held in conjunction with the forum.
