LEDAS Labs News: Geometry Comparison Technology, Parallel Computations, Cloud Systems and Much More
After a 2-year break, in July 2013 LEDAS, not interrupting work on its main specialization - software development services for complex CAD systems and applications - returned to creating its own products and technologies. These pilot projects are exercised by a special unit - LEDAS Labs. As we approach LEDAS 15th anniversary in April 2014, we asked Alexey Ershov, LEDAS CEO, to tell us about these new projects and how the work of LEDAS Labs correlates with LEDAS efforts, and to describe company’s contacts with Russian partners.

JETCAM International s.a.r.l. was recently announced as the winner in the “Innovation in Manufacture” category of the coveted Composite UK Trade Association awards for its CrossTrack Composite Manufacturing Suite.
CrossTrack tracks material, material life, plies, kits, parts, nests and orders — all in real time. It provides complete traceability from the finished part right back to the roll or rolls, and also delivers full material, ply and kit life traceability. Already in use by several global companies such as Bombardier Aerospace, CrossTrack delivers benefits across all departments involved, from material delivery through to layup. Key benefits include:
Dr Sue Halliwell, Operations Manager of Composites UK commented: “Our innovation awards showcase companies who go the extra mile to develop the technology and skills needed to highlight the UK as major player in the sector. We congratulate JETCAM on winning the category “Innovation in Manufacture” for their Crosstrack software suite which will help improve manufacturing efficiency in terms of resource use and cost effectiveness.”
Martin Bailey, General Manager for JETCAM International s.a.r.l. added: “We are delighted that CrossTrack has been recognised as being a real game changer for composite manufacturing companies so soon after the product’s release. DEXMA: September release and upcoming plans
DEXMA team is glad to announce a release of its new September version. So what`s new ?
1) Key point of the release is Open Project functionality. Why we did that ?
The idea came from crowdsourcing that is trendy these days. Open Project allows you to make your project visible for everyone. Moreover, everyone interested can join in your project, bring ideas and commit with actions - make designs for your products and its components. You can select the ones that fit best your product vision. It is up-to-date approach to use “crowd mind” to make better products as more innovative companies are taking this path (learn from this real examples, Fiat Mio and Local Motors).
2) The next point – we developed approach on how to avoid file collisions when working collaboratively. As we do not have checkin/checkout (when files are locked) in DEXMA from now you will be notified when grabbing a file into work when someone else is making modifications. So it is up to you to continue working with the file or communicate with the colleague on how to progress further work on it.
3) We make available workplan template cloning (or part of it) for future (upcoming) projects.
4) Contractors now can access only the project they were invited to and does not have access to corporate archieve.
5) We have done improvements to scheduling module in manufacturing management – now you are able to monitor all manufacturing and logistics processes.
6) We have improved system productivity by 8-9 times. Now assemblies with thousands of components are processed faster in DEXMA and viewing of complex assemblies can be done in seconds not in minutes.
7) You can login into DEXMA using your Google account.
Our upcoming plans for next releases:1) Integration with Fidesys (CAE system) and Geometric Comparison (service for comparing 3D models) by LEDAS Labs.
2) Partnering with 3D printing service companies.
3) Filling and enriching parts catalogs with more parts
If you have bright ideas how to make DEXMA better serving your need – email us to firstname.lastname@example.org.

JETCAM develops software that automatically cuts and unloads sheet metal parts
With the help of LEDAS, JETCAM International s.a.r.l created software that automatically cuts and unloads sheet metal parts. The software is designed for machines that fully automate parts production: from loading the sheetmetal into the laser cutter, to cutting it, moving it to the unloading table, and finally stacking the parts on pallets using arms that magnetically lift the parts. The software can be bundled with JETCAM Expert system and with other nesting and cutting applications.
