LEDAS Launches New Version 1.2 of Two-dimensional Geometric Solver LGS 2D

Ledas announces the release of two-dimensional geometric computational engine LGS 2D version 1.2, which is the update to the previous version LGS 2D 1.1. The new version of geometrical solver, long awaited by our friends, partners, and the market, marks the logical conclusion of a series of functionality enhancements, fixed bugs, and improvements to individual components. LEDAS developers have fully implemented all of the planned version 1.2 features that support maintenance and modification of models by means of geometric and engineering constraints. In parallel with that, the LGS team is already working on version 1.3. The specifications for the functionality and performance of the new version are based on the requirements of the market and have been compiled during the work on the release of version 1.2.

The top priority of LGS 2D 1.2 is still to address the market’s need for a state-of-the-art, easy-to-use development tool to support variational and constraint functionality in CAD systems. The functionality of version 1.1, released in May 2004 (e.g., move under constraints functionality, over-defined parts diagnostics: for more details see the May 18, 2005, press release at http://ledas.com/press.php), is extended to support engineering and geometric variables and equations, as well as geometric black-box constraints. Significant effort went into improvement of capabilities already present in version 1.1, resulting in overall performance improvement; in particular, the “move under constraints” function was made faster. The overall processing speed, measured on the available test base, has more than doubled. For more details regarding LGS 2D version 1.2, please see http://lgs.ledas.com.

The LGS team has always been open to all suggestions of collaboration; the company’s approach, when our customers, partners, and even competitors can install our products under the license agreements for preliminary evaluation and testing, has brought its rewards. Our potential partners get involved in a project at the earliest stages and contribute significantly to the technical specifications of future projects.

In addition to its work on the two-dimensional geometric solver, the company continues the development of its three-dimensional geometrical solver LGS 3D, which is nearing completion and formal release. The beta-release has been made available on the LEDAS website http://lgs3d.ledas.com/download/ for preliminary testing under the Early Access Program (LGS 3D EAP). As announced previously, the first commercial release of LGS 3D is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2005.

LGS 1.2 is a C++ class library that runs on Windows 2000 and XP, Linux, FreeBSD, and AIX platforms. It can be integrated (via its API written in C) into any kind of software applications. A sample test application for LGS called Lege'n'd is available for free download at the LEDAS web-site. It was created with the Open CASCADE open-source framework. The application has been updated to reflect the new functionality and features of LGS 2D version 1.2.
