Any geometry-based application can benefit from using LGS 3D through enhanced functionality. Examples include:
- Mechanical and architectural CAD/CAM
- Drawing creation
- FEM (shape optimization)
- Computer graphics
- 3D Modeling and Virtual reality
- Knowledge-based engineering
- Data exchange between the above applications
Variational modeling is now standard in most high-end mechanical CAD applications. Through scalable architecture of LGS, variational/parametric techniques can become accessible in a wide range of products, including desktop CAD and modeling tools, architectural software, virtual reality scene and object modeling tools, publishing software and many more. However, strong computational and optimization algorithms used in LGS can be a benefit to high-end CAD and CAM systems as well, providing a strong basis for variational modeling, knowledge-base engineering, constraint-based geometry and mechanical optimizations.
