CAPVIDIA and LEDAS announce plans to cooperate in the market of science-intensive technologies and software development

CAPVIDIA and LEDAS announce their plans to integrate and multiply their potentials in building, development and distribution of science-intensive technologies and software as well as in joint fulfillment of external contracts. This initiative has become possible due the growing interest of western companies in the Russian market and the interest of software and technology development companies in the area of specific technological niches such as core algorithms and their implementation in complex end-user software applications and firmware. The essential factor which brought the companies together is their closeness in the fields of competence and approach to the market. This enables strengthening of market positions by consolidating efforts in constraint programming, resource planning, data translation, simulation and computer vision. The broader market opportunities and partner networks of both companies will be used as a joint ground for further market expansion.

LEDAS core business is the development of computational software components used by the company's customers for building end-user applications. As a market-leader in constraint-based technologies, LEDAS is a well-known provider of PLM components: Geometric Constraint Solvers LGS 2D and LGS 3D for CAD/CAM/CAE, optimization engines for project management, work scheduling and meeting planning, interval technologies for knowledge-based engineering and collaborative design. LEDAS proposes both licensing its components and the development of proprietary customer's components by means of outsourcing. A recent LEDAS business initiative is the establishment of a Center of Competence in PLM and ERP to support software development consulting, outsourcing, reselling, and training/education.

CAPVIDIA develops and markets software solutions for CAD data translation (TransVidia), multi-physics CFD analysis (FlowVidia) and resource planning and optimization (PlanVidia). CAPVIDIA’s solutions are based on technologies developed in-house and are also available for licensing as software components (3D data repair & healing, iterative matrix solvers, reverse engineering & CAD surfacing components). CAPVIDIA’s services comprise the most complex multi-physics simulation (FEM-CFD fluid-structure interaction) and software development services covering the CAD/CAM/CAE applications. The CAPVIDIA development team of forty staff has extensive experience with the most complex software implementations and the management of large development projects.

Both companies are considered to belong to a so-called EcoSystem of Dassault Systemes (DS), one of the world- leaders of the PLM market. Since 1999, more than forty development contracts between DS and LEDAS aimed at integrating LEDAS solutions into CATIA Version 5 software have been successfully fulfilled. LEDAS has recently become a member of the DS Educational Partnership Program and can now officially demonstrate its high competence in DS solutions through training. CAPVIDIA’s cooperation with Dassault Systemes comprises joint marketing, sales and support of the Russian market for SIMULIA/Abaqus applications and licensing of the CATIA components included in the CAPVIDIA products for 3D data translation (3DTransVidia and FormatWorks).

From the customer’s point of view there are some obvious benefits of the CAPVIDIA – LEDAS cooperation. They have the opportunity to communicate with either of the companies to get a full cycle of the development works regardless whether it will be done by CAPVIDIA or LEDAS. The response time to customer requests will be reduced due to worldwide placement of offices. A multilevel approach to the projects will be covered by unique competence in geometrical modeling, 3D modeling quality, computational kernels applied to geometry, time or resource planning and optimization routine. The complementary components of CAPVIDIA and LEDAS can now be adopted as one combined solution to achieve better performance and avoid incompatibility issues. More outsourcing resources can be allocated to a customer project or dedicated support services.

In such a way all potential customer requests can be more easily processed by a formed partnership including reselling, education, data translation, development and outsourcing. “CAPVIDIA - LEDAS cooperation brings new and unique expertise and opens technological borders in the CAD/CAM/CAE market”, said Tomasz Luniewski, CAPVIDIA Managing Director. “We extend the geography of offshore scientific research and specific software development and consulting”, echoed David Levin, CEO and founder of LEDAS.
